Twelfth Night, The Company of Adventurers

Twelfth Night, The Company of Adventurers
Presented in English
April 15-18, 2016
Avalon Studio, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

A youth performance of Twelfth Night for the Shakespeare 400 festivities in Ottawa.

“Featuring a shipwreck, practical jokes, mistaken identities, a rascally jester, an uproarious sword fight, and lots of music, Twelfth Night has long been one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies. Like all Company of Adventurers productions, this year’s show is ideal family entertainment, a great way of introducing kids to Shakespeare.”

“The Company of Adventurers is an Ottawa young people’s theatre company dedicated to producing the works of William Shakespeare. It was founded in 2011 by Cynthia Sugars and Paul Keen. The company consists of young actors between the ages of 9 and 18, directed by Sugars and Keen, professors of English at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. For each of the past five years, the company has staged a full-length production of a Shakespeare play: Macbeth in 2011, The Tempest in 2012, Hamlet in 2013, Twelfth Night in 2014, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2015. Our productions are inspired by our belief that young people, both actors and viewers, are capable of understanding and enjoying the language and dramatic complexity of Shakespeare’s plays. The actors are involved in developing all aspects of each production including acting, music, set design and stage effects.”
